Mary D’Arcy is our current chair, and she has overseen this project for the last four years and is ready for a break. Marie would be happy to train and work with you on the Christmas Baskets, which are so appreciated by the families, and especially the children, who receive the gifts and food. Please prayerfully consider if the Lord is calling you to this service for your parish and your community. If interested, please call Marie (598-6100) or Gayle at the church office (598-8342) or see Father Rubén.

Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

January 29, 2012

Prayer for our Capital Campaign

Loving God, we praise and thank you for your constant care. You are our guide and our Shepherd. We ask you to bless our efforts to provide the resources to continue our service to your people at St. Paul the Apostle. Help us to promote the mission of our parish that the Church may grow and flourish in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. May we persevere with the hope fostered and modeled by our patron saint Paul who said: “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” So we pray in your name. Amen.

Update on Construction

As I mentioned at Mass two weeks ago, we are scheduled to meet with the Architectural Committee of the Diocese on February 10. This Committee oversees all construction in the Diocese. They will evaluate our revised plan and our financial status and will determine how much the Diocese will loan us to accomplish our Master Plan. We should know fairly soon after the meeting if any revisions are necessary, where we stand and how soon we can proceed. The street project was approved last year and, as soon as contracts are signed by the Diocese, work will begin. Father Rubén

Thank You!

The parish would like to thank Jim & Maggie Palmer, who donated the large acrylic altar stand for the new Roman Missal. The stand is both functional and beautiful. Thank you, Maggie & Jim, for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

We far exceeded any previous collection, which the Center can certainly put to good use. Requests for aid have doubled recently and The Helping Center is currently serving over 500 families per month. Thank you for your generosity!

A New Volunteer

The faith community of St. Paul’s would like to recognize parishioner Javier Castro, who received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in December. Officer Castro is a member of the Horseshoe Bay Police Department and the father of five school-age children. Congratulations, Javier, on your accomplishment!

May God bless you all!

Greetings from Father Bob Scott

I am doing well here in New Jersey at the home of the Little Sisters of the Poor. I send many thanks to the folks at St. Austin’s, the University Catholic Center and St. Paul’s at Horseshoe Bay for the many wonderful greetings to me at Christmas. I didn’t open and read the cards until after Christmas; then I read slowly the thoughtful messages you sent me. It took me four days. They expressed beautifully my relationship with all of you. I have never received so many Christmas cards in my life (about 140). Thank you and God bless.
