St. Paul's News

Book Club

The Catholic Women’s Book Club will meet this Thursday, May 23. Father Ruben has graciously invited us to view the video in his office. For those interested in discussing the book before the video, we will start the meeting at 2:30 p.m. and then watch the video at 3:00 p.m. Dorothy Day is a complex individual and I am looking forward to everyone’s impression of this woman who is being considered for sainthood. Mark your calendars for May 23! Hope everyone can attend (even if you haven’t read the book, the video should be very educational). Claudia Haydon

Cedarbrake Retreats

Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center in Belton is sponsoring a series of retreats through the summer. The next two are:
> Desert Solitude This is one of their most loved retreats. It will be held June 6-12 and is a week of silence with an emphasis on centering prayer. You can come for 3, 4 or 6 days. There is daily Mass and spiritual direction is available. The cost varies, depending on your length of stay, but includes a private room, meals and spiritual direction. Pat Stankus, who has been facilitating this retreat for 16 years, will be the presenter.
> Mary Magdalene This retreat will be held on Monday, July 22, the Feast Day of St. Mary Magdalene. She traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was present at two of the most important moments in the story of Jesus – the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. The day will be spent reflecting on these events, as well as Mary Magdalene’s love and support of Jesus Christ. Beverly Collin will be the presenter. The cost is $35, which includes lunch.
