Mission Statement

We the community of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, aspire to express the Good News of Jesus Christ in today’s society. Through the Eucharistic liturgy, we gather for prayer and raise our hearts, minds and lives to God. Moved by the Holy Spirit, we seek to manifest God’s love for all. In concert with the Paulist Fathers, we understand this to include efforts toward:
  • Working for justice and peace within society and Church
  • Strengthening ecumenical and interreligious relationships
  • Building a loving, caring and compassionate community that welcomes all
  • Fostering programs that provide for the spiritual growth of the community
  • Offering a home to those who have no church and welcome home those who have been away
  • Following the example of the Good Samaritan we endeavor to provide assistance where we see a need.

The Chapel Complex

The Chapel stands high atop Thanksgiving Mountain. Walls of glass behind the main altar provide a breathtaking view over Lake LBJ and the surrounding countryside. Exquisite original artwork and appointments fashioned by renowned artist Sister Mary Peter Tremonte of San Antonio, Texas, enhance the entire Chapel complex. Stained glass mosaic windows, created by Father Jairo Lopez of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls, Texas, were dedicated in 2009. A life-size bronze sculpture of St. Paul the Apostle, commissioned by former pastor, Father Bob Scott, C.S.P., and crafted by Erik Christianson of Bulverde, Texas, was installed at the entrance to the Chapel in 2009. In addition to its stunning main chapel, the complex also has a small chapel, an ecumenical library, a large meeting room, kitchen facilities, offices and priest's residence. All buildings are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Pastor

Father Rubén Patiño, C.S.P. was appointed pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay effective June 15, 2009.
